The website we’ve developed for Shoe Clinic gives customers, new or loyal, the opportunity to explore Shoe Clinics range of shoes and provides them everything they need to make a purchase either online or in-store.
Shoe Clinic has 18 stores operating throughout New Zealand, helping people to find the best shoe for their needs with free in-store fitting services and podiatry appointments. Their online web store allows customers to order shoes onlines with a safe and easy checkout process.
Shoe Clinic was required to move to another ecommerce website platform as their previous one reached the end of support and they required a near pixel perfect replica of what they had before. Their previous site also required dual entry of data into their point of sale and their product system so they were also seeking a more efficient way of integrating their website catalogue with their internal product system.
In the current business environment, there are not only huge opportunities in online retail and ecommerce but also in reevaluating current systems to find efficiencies and ways of managing a business to save time and resources. For Shoe Clinic there was a necessity for automatic, timely data transfer between their iPOS point of sale and product system preventing a lot of manual data entry. Their new website solution also allowed integration of their loyalty system.
We developed a new Magento Ecommerce platform for Shoe Clinic which replicated their previous site and connected to their existing iPOS point of sale and product system. This connection was a key deliverable for their new ecommerce solution to remove the need for manual product data entry and stock updates. The data integration between Shoe Clinic’s Magento Ecommerce site and their iPOS product system updates every night to keep track of orders and ensures accurate stock levels are presented on their website. We chose Magento because of its solid reputation and the ability to adapt it to customers needs with a range of extensions including an advanced one page checkout which we’ve implemented for Shoe Clinic’s online purchases. The Shoe Clinic website also allows users to join and login to their Advantage Club loyalty scheme to collect points and manage their account. An online running calculator gives visitors who run regularly a way to check how long their current shoes are expected to last and when it’s time to purchase new ones.
During the nationwide lockdown, Shoe Clinic were able to identify which of their products were essential through their online product catalogue; they saw 10x traffic on their website during the lockdown period. Shoe Clinic were not only able to present customers with an appealing online alternative to shopping in-store, they also had a robust system that allowed them to adapt and handle the ‘essential shopping rush’.
